Tokyo is one of the hotspot destinations in the world. Tourists are drawn to it because it’s exciting, often quirky, and sometimes weird. The cafes are cute, interesting, and the places that you have never seen before. There’s so much to see and do in Tokyo so let’s get started on the list:

Kawaii Monster Cafe

Kawaii Monster Cafe is one of the iconic places in Harajuku area where you can have the most unique and super Kawaii dining experience. Guests can encounter classic Harajuku energy in a fun, otherworldly space in this restaurant with colorful rooms and an adorable, rainbow-themed menu. One part of the cafe to check out is the Bar Experiment. It’s a mysterious bar counter lit by giant glowing jellyfish. When sitting in this area, you will feel almost as if you’re lost in the depths of the ocean.

Pokemon Cafe

When you gotta catch them all head to the Pokemon Cafe. Located next to the Pokemon Centre in Nihonbashi. The food and drinks are of course also Pokemon themed. Pikachu’s Plate is a tourist favorite. Their are also special menus, like the limited-time only Detective Pikachu menu. Tip: I recommend making a reservation for your visit to the Pokemon Cafe. There is always a long wait for a table if you can plan on walking in.

Alice in Fantasy Book

Fun place to grab some dessert and drinks as you step into Alice’s Wonderland. From the restaurant door to the decor and staff’s costumes, it all makes you feel like you have fallen down the rabbit hole. This would be the perfect place for a girls tea party or just for a fun time. Make sure to reserve in advance. Check out their website for reservations.

Vampire Cafe

The haunted house-like interior has a black and red color scheme, decked out in blood stained skeletons, shattered mirrors and other goosebump inducing elements. Food comes with lovely appetizing names like “Tragic execution of traitor by burning to death” (fire roast chicken) and “Dark sorcery using flame harbouring the devil” (margherita pizza).

The Lock-Up -The Prison Izakaya

The Lock-up is a jail-themed restaurant that will give you a taste of inmate life. Get handcuffed by “police officers” and be escorted to dine in dark metal bar cells. Three times a night, the restaurant even has a blackout and releases a monster (A staff member in costume). The food at Lockup is reputed to be mediocre. Is that meant to imitate real prison food or just poor cooking? You decide.
