Looking to go somewhere different for Spring Break? Whether you’re a family looking for an affordable getaway or a college student on a budget. There are more places to spend your week off than Cabo San Lucas or Lake Havasu.

If quieter harbors and more relaxed shorelines are in your plans this year, here are the seven best lesser-known and off-the-grid Spring Break destinations around the world you may want to check out instead.

1.Santa Barbara, CA

Santa Barbara, a town about two hours north of L.A., isn’t where you’d typically think about spending Spring Break. But Santa Barbara has a little bit of everything for everyone. Beaches, sunny parks, historic locales and a short drive to the mountains. Santa Barbara is a perfect mix of spring break enjoyment for those looking for activity , those who just wish to chill out and relax.

2. Jodhpur, India

Our favorite underrated destination is Jodhpur. This gorgeous city is located in the Thar Desert and is divided into two parts, the new city, and the old city. It is famous for its landmarks, such as the Mehrangarh Fort and the Umaid Bhawan Palace. Jodhpur is also known for its blue city, with stretches of buildings painted in beautiful shades of blue.

3.Crystal Coast, NC

This gem along the Carolina central shore features miles of wide sandy beaches. Fresh seafood and Carolina barbecue joints and a beyond-authentic coastal maritime experience.

Both Kids and adults will be captivated by the actual pirate treasure rescued from the sunken wreckage of Blackbeard’s Queen Anne’s Revenge. It sunk just off Crystal Coast you can see it at the North Carolina Maritime Museum. Enjoy hands-on learning at the North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores. Also, view the free-roaming wild Banker horses just across Beaufort Inlet at Shackleford Banks.

Although it’s not as unknown as it used to be, Cinque Terre in Italy will definitely give you a break from all the crowds in Positano. Both are similar in the way they look, with colorful buildings lining the hillside, in front of perfectly blue water. Although there are lots of Italian cities similar to Positano, this one was definitely our favorite, because of its laid-back lifestyle and colorful scenery.

Little St. Simon’s Island is a large barrier island with 11,000 acres of natural beauty and seven miles of beaches. What Little St. Simon’s Island doesn’t have is people. The entire island – just a half-hour from the city of Brunswick, GA – has been privately owned since 1760. The  Lodge on Little St. Simon’s, an all-inclusive resort that accommodates a maximum of 32 guests, is the only structure on the island.

Accessible only by ferry, the island not only offers visitors a charming lodge stay with five daily meals included and guest service, but also maritime forests, Atlantic marshlands, secluded fishing spots, private swimming in the surf, hiking, crabbing, kayaking, a plethora of untamed wildlife – from alligators to bald eagles to sea turtles – and miles of gorgeous beaches.

For couples and families looking for an undisturbed Spring Break, you’re in luck. There are no phones or TVs available for guests anywhere on the island. Not your speed? Day passes are available, so just snag a rental in Brunswick and hop on the ferry!

But Spring Break requires sandy shores, and thankfully, Port Aransas’ miles of Texas beaches endure for your sunbathing and Frisbee pleasure.
